Clawson has not qualified a team for the state cross country finals since 2000.  It has been 21 years, but after today's race they are going back.

Claire Thomson was the regional champion, and Abbey Lodato finished 4th overall.  Fellow seniors Renata Carlesimo and Charlie Verner once again used a break in their volleyball matches to come out and help the Trojans field a team.  It was the performance from rookie Lovelyn Ketepa, in which she dropped 1:46 off her previous best time, that pushed the Trojans on to the state finals.

The state finals will be held next Saturday at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan.  The girls race will start at 10:00 am.

The Clawson boys team ran good races as well, but they were not able to finish the requisite 5 runners.  Gabe Stevens was Clawson's fastest boy and just missed qualifying for the state meet by 4 places.  Freshmen Cole Wyckoff and Caden Jones both set personal records to finish their season and Cameron Bean was a minute and a half faster than he was the last time that he ran in Algonac.
