Clawson defeated host Warren Mott in four sets (25-11, 23-25, 25-13, 25-15) on Thursday.

Alex Verner led the Trojans with 12 kills, four digs, three blocks and three aces. Charlie Verner had 11 kills and six blocks, and Aliyah Vesper had 11 kills and three digs. 

Anna Smith had 16 assists, and Renata Carlesimo had 14 assists. Ava LaMotte had five digs.

Clawson cruised to a 16-1 lead to start the match after scoring 15 points in a row behind LaMotte's serving. The Trojans shut down Mott's offense, tallying seven of their 14 total blocks in the opening frame to win the first set 25-11.

Mott responded in the second set leading by as many as eight points. Clawson would battle back from a 19-11 deficit to tie the game at 23-23, but could not complete the rally, and dropped the second set 25-23.

That late run helped Clawson carry momentum into the third set, where the Trojans quickly took a 13-4 lead. Clawson served five of its nine total aces in the third set, and closed off a 25-13 win on a six-point run.

Whereas the first set showcased Clawson's solid defense, and the third set featured its strong serving, the fourth set was where the Trojan offense truly came alive. Clawson had 15 of its 41 kills in the final set, and had just one single hitting error on 36 total attempts. Everything clicked for the Trojans, and they won the fourth set 25-15 to defeat Mott 3-1.

Clawson won its fourth match in a row to improve to 9-11-4 overall, and 6-3 in the MAC Silver.
