Clawson defeated host New Haven in three sets (26-24, 25-14, 25-19) on Thursday, extending its winning streak to five games.

Aliyah Vesper led the Trojans with six kills, seven digs and four aces. Charlie Verner had 11 kills and six digs, and Jillian Liford had five kills and three digs.

Hayley Kauffman had five kills and five blocks, and Gabrielle Kalcec had two kills and five blocks. The two middle blockers played a big role in the third set for the Trojans, combining for six of the team's nine total kills.

Renata Carlesimo had 20 assists, and Anna Smith had nine assists. Natty Lertkasem had nine digs and four aces, and Ava LaMotte had 10 digs.

Clawson and New Haven were tied 18-18 in an evenly matched first set before New Haven had game point at 24-19. However, the Trojans were able to force errors on the New Haven defense and rallied for seven straight points to win the opening frame 26-24.

That momentum carried into the second set, where Clawson would never give up a lead. Verner tallied six of her 11 kills in the second set, and the Trojan team had five aces and zero service errors, while also passing at a 2.38 average on serve receive.

New Haven responded right out of the gate in the third set, jumping to an 8-0 lead before forcing a Trojan timeout. Clawson was able to settle the nerves, turning the tables on New Haven to go on a 13-3 run. The Trojans once again held onto their lead, and after a big block from Liford to give Clawson the match point, Kauffman put down the winning kill to close the third set at 25-19.

Clawson improves to 7-0 in the MAC Silver, and 15-4 overall.
