Clawson's runners took to the course at Marysville Municipal Park on Tuesday in the first MAC Blue Jamboree of 2019. They battled sweltering heat and a hilly course as they raced the 5 kilometer trail along the St. Clair River.
Both squads were short runners due to illness, injury, and other conflicts. The boys came away from the jamboree with a 3 and 11 dual meet record, while the girls finished with 6 wins.
Individually Claire Thomson set the pace, finishing 56 seconds ahead of 2nd place. Abbey Lodato was in 10th place at the 800 meter mark but methodically moved her way up the field and finished 4th overall. Michael Pizzo made his season debut and led the way for the Trojans in Ryan Lodato's absence.
The cross country team will compete next at the Holly Invitational on Saturday, September 14th.
