Wonderful weather, a competitive field, and lots of hard work set the stage for a lot fast times from the Clawson Trojans at the MHSAA Regional race at Coumbus County Park this morning.
Owen Windgaston shattered his old personal record by nearly a minute. His time of 17:18 earned him a medal and spot in the state finals on November 2, in Brooklyn Michigan.
Cole Wyckoff ran his final cross country race as a Trojan with his fastest-ever time of 18:32
Matthew McClain and Zack Campbell set personal records running sub-20. While, freshmen Gideon Schneider, Louis Michael, and Jamison Crottie, filled out the rest of the varsity team today, with each runner posting their fastest race ever.
In the open race freshman Kekoa Newash set a personal best for himself while Caden Jones finished his career getting faster after injury and illness set him back in previous races.
In the girls race, Charly Werenka once again led the Trojans, and dropped yet another 50 seconds off of her personal best. In a season with only 8 races in it, Charly managed to lower her PR six times. Senior Calleigh McMillan finished her high school career with her fastest time ever. Lucy Thomson had a PR of 25:52 and and Elizabeth Schneider was just behind her at 26:11.

The MAC Blue Championship race was at Lake St. Clair Metropark on Saturday. The boys finished 4th out of 17 teams. They were lead by Cole Wyckoff, who ran a personal best time of 19:03.1. Owen Windgaston earned all-conference honors as well. Matthew McClain, Zack Campbell, and Gideon Schneider rounded out the top 5 for Clawson. Gideon dropped nearly a minute to set a new person record.

The Trojans continue to run faster each week. They traveled to Port Huron on Tuesday and competed in this season's second jamboree for the MAC Bue division. There are 17 teams in the MAC Blue, and the Clawson boys team finished 5th, while the girls finished 8th.
Owen Windgaston was the first Trojan to finish the race. He was 6th overall with a personal best time of 18:22. Zack Campbell, Jamison Crottie, and Kekoa Newash also ran their fastest 5ks ever at the meet.
On the girls team, Charly Werenka once again was the fastest for Clawson. She set a personal record for the 5k with a time of 25:18. Elizabeth Schneider also set a persona best in the race with a time of 25:56
After uncooperative weather interfered with their races at the Popsicle Invite, Clawson finally got their racing season going with Algonac's Muskrat Classic at Columbus County Park on Friday night.
163 boys competed in the Division 2-3-4 races, and sophomore Owen Windgaston had the 34th fastest time. His 19:08 for the 5k was the top time for the Trojans. Senior Cole Wyckoff was the second fastest Trojan, setting a personal record for himself. His 19:42 was 18 seconds faster than his previous best. The boys team has 5 freshman competing this season. This was their first time competing at the 5k distance on a cross country course. Zack Campbell led the freshman group finishing just behind sophomore Matthew McClain's 20:31 time.
The girls team is still searching for a 5th runner, but returning quartet of Charly Werenka, Elizabeth Schneider, Lucy Thomson, and Calleigh McMillan all had solid performances, led by Charly's personal record of 26:12.
The Trojans will head to Lake St. Clair Metropark next Tuesday where they will host the first MAC Blue Jamboree.
